This site contains pictures and descriptions of my hiking, mountain
climbing, rock climbing and other outdoor experiences over my lifetime
in the State of Washington.
There is nothing like the freedom
of the outdoors. The outdoors offers the opportunity to appreciate
the beauty of nature, the fellowship of others and most of all the
challenge to oneself.
A large part of physical outdoor
activities is mental, in that you have to concentrate on making
short distance gains, knowing that they will result in success.
The picture on the top right was taken at the 12,000 ft. level on
our way up to the summit of Mt. Rainier in 1988. Mt. Adams
is in the background.
A search engine is included
to aid your navigation of the internet and links to other recreational
web sites providing weather, equipment, trail conditions and other
pertinent information. If you find other good recreational web sites,
E-mail me and I will consider adding them to my recreational links.
I started my retirement life in 2004
and am hiking more frequently again.
So far in 2005, I have hiked (scrambled)
part way up an icy trail to Lake Shuksan in the Baker Lake area
with my son-in-law, Buzz Bannister. We will return there another
day when the conditions are better.
With my friend, Mike Bell, we have hiked
to Wallace Falls, Wallace Lake and to Heather Lake. Our trip to
Wallace Lake including a sidetrip was about 13 miles. That really
taxed our energy.
